First Set The First Chapter

A Card is the main gameplay element in Disney Lorcana. Each card measures 2.5 inches (6.35 centimeters) by 3.5 inches (8.89 centimeters), and is about 0.012 inches (0.305 centimeters) in thickness. Each card weighs about 0.064 ounces (1.184 grams). On one side it represents either a Glimmer, an Action or a Place. On the other side the all cards have the same illustration design so it's impossible to differentiate any during gameplay. Cards of all regions use the same back.[1] A standard deck consists of at least sixty cards, no maximum number in total.

Creative Director Shane Hartley shared in the Lorcana Pre-Launch event held in Germany where the hidden Mickey and Ravensburger logo were integrated into the card back.

Foil

All cards are available in both foil and nonfoil versions. There is no gameplay difference between both versions. A Foil card can be of any Rarity. Each Booster Pack includes 1 random Foil card. Specific Foil cards can also be obtained from Starter Decks and Gift Sets, in this the foiled cards contained are always the same ones.

This is different from the Special Foil treatment given to cards obtained from the D23 Expo 2022 Collector's Set and the D23 Expo 2022 promotional card.

Acquiring Cards

Cards can be obtained by buying physical Disney Lorcana products, with the following restrictions:.

  • Booster Packs contain 11 cards distributed by the rarity symbol of each cards which indicates the likelihood of them appearing. One card is foiled, the rarity is random.
  • Starter Decks will always have the same kind and amount of cards, at least 60 as per a regular playing deck size.

During gameplay

Cards may be in one and only one at a time of five zones during the game:

Every turn during the Beginning Phase the player will receive the card from the top of their deck.

Exceptions

Although acquirable by official means, there are promotional items that look like cards but are not considered cards.

  • Inserts found inside Booster Packs are not considered cards even if they measure and weight the same. These items don't have the necessary information in their card layout to be used during gameplay and are mearly decorative or informative.
  • Oversized cards found in Gift Sets, are considered just a novelty and can't be used in normal gameplay since their size would give away which card it is and can't be shuffled indistinctively in a deck.
  • Illumineer's Quest products contain oversized battleground cards and golden-back Scenario Deck cards, not usable in a deck.
