This page intends to collate and define unofficial terminology coined by the community. It will also explain any common terminology from other games that make their way over to Lorcana.
Gameplay Terminology
- Cheat Into Play - Pay 0 to play a card that normally costs more than 0, such as with Lantern's or Mickey Mouse - Wayward Sorcerer's cost reduction abilities.
- Defeat - Banish
- Destroy - Banish
- Dig - Look at the top cards of your deck, then put a number of them into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your deck, such as with Be Our Guest.
- Discard pile - Discard
- Exhaust - Exert
- Floodgate - A card with an ability that limits opponents' abilities to perform certain actions in large amounts. An example of this would be Gantu - Galactic Federation Captain, who acts as a floodgate for challenging.
- Flourish - The symbol around the hexagon around the cost of a card, which shows that a card can be placed into your inkwell.
- French Vanilla - Any character with only keyworded abilities, such as Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Tailor or Hercules - True Hero.
- Graveyard - Discard
- Ink (verb) - Place in the Inkwell
- Inkable - Any card that can be placed into your inkwell, denoted by the flourish around the cost hexagon. Currently, the majority of cards in Lorcana are inkable.
- Kill - Banish
- Library - Deck
- Loot - Draw a card, then discard a card, such as with Tinker Bell - Tiny Tactician.
- Mulligan - Alter your Starting Hand
- Nilla Wafer - Any vanilla creature that can't be turned to ink, such as Maleficent - Biding Her Time.
- Non-Inkable - Any card that cannot be placed into your inkwell, such as One Jump Ahead.
- On A Stick - Commonly found after another card name, it refers to a character that has an effect similar to another card. An example would be that Maximus - Relentless Pursuer is Control Your Temper! on a stick.
- Pitch - Place in the Inkwell
- Rest - Exert
- Scry - Look at the top card of your deck, then choose to place it on the top or the bottom, such as with Yzma - Alchemist.
- Stand - Ready
- Tap - Exert
- Tuck - Place a card on the bottom of your deck, such as with Develop Your Brain or when you fix your starting hand.
- Untap - Ready
- Vanilla - Any character with no abilities, such as Flounder - Voice of Reason and Goons - Maleficent's Underlings.
- Weenies - An archetype of characters with low costs and stats. For example, Stitch - Rock Star and Gantu - Galactic Federation Captain both about characters with cost 2 or less, which has caused the current definition of "weenie" to mean "a character with cost 2 or less".

Some cards either have names that are too long or have become so loved by the community that they have been given nicknames.
