Banishing refers to the act of removing a card that was in play in the Cards in play area into the Discard pile.
During a Challenge, if a Character has accumulated equal or more Damage compared to the amount of Willpower that the Character has, the Character will be Banished, where it will be placed in the Discard pile.
There are also abilities that relate to banishing a card. An example of such an Ability would be Maleficent - Monstrous Dragon's Dragon Fire ability.
