Beast - Relentless Rulings
Beast - Relentless can Ready himself whenever an opposing Character is damaged, regardless of which player's turn it is when the opposing character is damaged.[1]
- If an opposing character challenges a character during their turn and takes damage from the challenge, Beast - Relentless can ready himself at that time.[2]
Placing damage counters on a character will not cause that character to be damaged. Therefore, Beast - Selfless Protector putting damage counters on himself due to his ability would not trigger Beast - Relentless and allow it to ready.[3]
- Even if Mother Gothel - Withered and Wicked is played and enters play with 3 damage, her ability does not deal damage to her and therefore Beast - Relentless cannot ready himself.[2]
- Damage must have been dealt to a character for Beast - Relentless to ready himself. If Beast - Relentless with 4 challenges a character that has Resist +4, all 4 damage was prevented by resist in that challenge and Beast - Relentless will not be able to ready himself as the character was not damaged.[2]
- If my opponent has Beast - Selfless Protector and Simba - Protective Cub in play, if you use Beast - Relentless to challenge Simba, Beast - Relentless would not be able to ready himself as damage was never placed on Simba. Furthermore Beast - Selfless Protector's SHIELD ANOTHER ability does not count as damaging himself, Beast - Relentless is unable to trigger his SECOND WIND ability.[2]
- The words "is damaged" is defined in the Glossary of the Comprehensive Rules as "is dealt damage".[4]
