The Walt Disney Company
The Walt Disney Company, commonly referred to as Disney, is an American-based multimedia entertainment conglomerate headquartered at the Walt Disney Studios complex in Burbank, California. The company was founded in 1923 by brothers Walter Disney and Roy Oliver Disney. The company was first established as an animation studio, beginning with its pioneer film Steamboat Willie in 1928 that made it a key figure in the animation industry. The studio would go on to helm several projects in the animation industry. In following decades, the company diversified into various studios, creating sub-branches of production companies for film, television, and other types of entertainment. Some of its subsidiary studios include its primary animated film studio, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and Disney Television Animation for animated Disney shows.
Disney has partnered with Ravensburger to manufacture games with Disney-licensed properties and characters. Licensed games include Ravensburger released Disney Villainous,[1] a family strategy board game where 2 to 6 players take on the roles of Disney Villains.
In August 2022, Ravensburger announced that they were working on a brand-new collaboration with Disney, in the form of Disney Lorcana, which is described as "a family-friendly collectible trading card game" where players summon reimagined versions of Disney characters to aid them on an exciting adventure.[2] The game was showcased at D23 Expo 2022, where a Ravensburger booth that introduced Lorcana to the event attendees.[3]
