Timing Rulings
When multiple effects happen at the same time, the turn player chooses the order in which they occur, then resolve the effects in that order. After that, each other player resolves their effects in turn, starting with the player to the turn player's left.[1]
- For example, if you have Dr. Facilier - Agent Provocateur in play and your Gramma Tala - Storyteller was challenged and banished, you choose whether to resolve Dr. Facilier - Agent Provocateur ability first or Gramma Tala - Storyteller ability first.[2]
- If you chose Gramma Tala - Storyteller ability to resolve first, you would be able to place Gramma Tala - Storyteller into your Inkwell.
- If you chose Dr. Facilier - Agent Provocateur ability to resolve first, Gramma Tala - Storyteller would be returned to your Hand.
An ability that triggers when another card is played, will only occur after that other card is fully resolved. [2]
- If you play Friends on the Other Side while you have Dr. Facilier - Remarkable Gentleman in play, you will first draw 2 cards from your deck, before you get to use Dr. Facilier - Remarkable Gentleman's DREAMS MADE REAL ability.[3]
- * Ursula's Shell Necklace ability triggers only after the Song card fully resolves.[4]
There are two steps to a zone change: leaving the first zone, and entering the new zone. "When banished" triggers see the first part, specifically "leaving the In Play zone". Affected cards do not see the "entering a new zone", as they are no longer In Play.[5]
- If Gramma Tala - Spirit of the Ocean is sent to the Inkwell via Let It Go, she is out of play before being able to see herself entering the new zone, and therefore does not gain a Lore.[6]
