Resist Rulings
Resist is an additive ability. If you have 2 copies of Cogsworth - Grandfather Clock in play, both copies of Cogsworth will have Resist +1 from the other Cogsworth while all other characters you control will have a total of Resist +2, 1 from each copy of Cogsworth.[1]
If Resist reduces the damage dealt to 0, that Character was not dealt damage. In such a situation, abilities like Beast - Relentless's SECOND WIND that triggers when an opposing character takes damage will not trigger as no damage was dealt.[2]
Resist is not a replacement effect. [3]
- If you have both Beast - Selfless Protector without Resist and another character with Resist +1 in play, and 3 damage is dealt to that other character, the damage is reduced to 2 by Resist, then the 2 damage counters are placed on Beast.
- However if you have Beast - Selfless Protector with Resist +1, and another character without Resist in play, and 3 damage is dealt to that other character, no damage will be reduced by the Resist on Beast - Selfless Protector, and 3 damage counters will be placed on Beast.
